Letting Go
Unchaining Craft from Outcome
69 days left in the quarter.
Difference of the Day #217
Mastering a craft requires letting go of attachment to the outcome. Consider the ancient sculptor: chiseling not for fame, but for the pure satisfaction of shaping marble. He doesn't fear rejection from critics, nor does he crave their praise. The process is everything—much like a sailor who finds solace not in reaching land, but in navigating the tumultuous sea.
Modern life, however, binds us to results, mistaking them for success and trapping us in the pursuit of fleeting applause. True mastery lies in separating effort from the desire for approval. This kind of detachment grants resilience against the unpredictability of outcomes.
Take the stock market theorist, for example: obsessed with forecasts, enslaved by patterns. He loses touch with his craft when he bends to the whims of fortune. Real accomplishment is not found in the fleeting satisfaction of end results, but in the relentless pursuit, free from expectations.
The process is the craft, and the craft is life.
Today, Make A Difference.
