Difference of the Day #169

How people treat us concerns their karma; how we respond concerns ours. Life constantly presents us with encounters and interactions, each a test of character. Their actions reflect their nature, not ours.

When faced with disrespect or hostility, the knee-jerk reaction is to retaliate in kind, to mirror the negativity. This, however, is a surrender to external forces, a relinquishment of control.

True strength lies in our response. We assert our sovereignty by choosing calm over chaos and dignity over degradation.

We cannot dictate the behavior of others, but we can govern our reactions. Their treatment of us sets the stage; our response writes the script. The world is full of provocations; wisdom resists the urge to react impulsively.

Every response is a statement of self. Choose wisely, for it is in these moments that we define our karma.
