You can’t escape a prison if you don’t know you’re in one. Most of us go through life chained to patterns of thought we never question. We follow them like we’re sleepwalking, unaware these thoughts even are patterns.
Think about it: how often do we repeat the same mental routines? We follow ideas and assumptions picked up over the years, thinking they’re truths when they’re just habits. They shape our views, our actions, and how we see others. But if we don’t recognize these as “just one way of thinking,” they become our reality—unchallenged and inescapable.
Breaking free starts with awareness. It’s about catching yourself mid-thought, asking, “Is this belief mine, or is it borrowed?” The moment you see it for what it is—a single perspective, not the perspective—you gain the power to break the cycle. Only then can you begin to think on your own terms.
